Giveaway - Robeez Soft Soled Shoes

Does anyone else have a mini-crush on Jamie Oliver of the Food Revolution? I know he’s not the cutest man ever but his passion for food makes me drool a little bit. It’s also inspired me to try to be a better mom and get my kids eating healthier. Not that we eat all that terribly, mind you. But life gets busy and sometimes I find myself reverting to Happy Meals and Ritz packs more often than I would like. So I’m on the lookout for new ideas for healthy kid snacks. Comment on this post with an idea for a healthy snack for kids and you’ll be entered in this month’s give-away for a pair of Robeez soft soled shoes!

Robeez are adorable little shoes that are made specifically for wee ones. Their super soft soles allow the shoes to fit gently around babies’ feet so that babies can wear shoes but still have the flexibility needed for their developing feet. Kasia and I tried them out last month; you can see my review here: Robeez Review.

When you comment, make sure you include your first name and e-mail address so we can let you know you’ve won. You also might also want to add your e-mail to the mailing list for this blog so that you know when we have our next contest! The deadline for this contest is May 17th. Good luck and happy spring!

  1. Cucumber slices are a big hit for my 2.5 year old. (Sometimes calling them "cucumber cookies" makes her more likely to eat them, yikes!)

She also likes bell peppers, and has been eating them since about 16 months. The orange and yellow ones are sweet enough that maybe she thinks she's eating fruit?

  2. Oh my! I love Jamie Oliver! I was going to blog about him myself! When you need something quick and healthy I like the steamers from Birds Eye. They're on sale at walmart frequently and the have one that is mixed rice and veggies. A chicken breast on the George Forman grill and rice & veggie steamer - dinner ready in less than 20 minutes... and it's very hands-off which = more time for playing!

  3. I saw the new post and cracked up when I read about Jamie's Food Revolution! I am HOOKED and as a Mom who doesn't cook very well, I am motivated to do better because of Jamie!

As for healthy snacks, our new favorites are the organic pureed fruit in the pouches with the resealable lids (not that she ever has left overs). We love them, as they are easy to carry in a bag and have handy in a hurry. I first saw them at Starbucks but have since purchased them at Babys R Us.

Perfect timing to talk about healthy snacks. Madison grew cherry tomatoes with Papa last Spring/Summer and had such a great time, we planted strawberries in a Topsy Turvy this year. (we are not gardeners either). It has been so fun watching them grow and then getting to pick and wash and eat them! Thinking of doing carrots next. How fun to water and watch and then pull out of the ground and EAT!

  6. I LOVE Jamie Oliver!! His passion to help people is just amazing! I have difficulty feeding my 5 year old any new food, especially healthy. He's autistic and only eats chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, and peanut butter sandwiches. My 1 year old will eat just about anything! I'm hoping she won't get picky that her brother.

  7. My 9 month old daughter doesn't eat too much yet, but she loves canned green beans and carrots (low sodium) while I'm getting her dinner ready. She can pick them up herself and I know she's getting something nutritious!

  8. Love Jamie Oliver...hopefully his revolution will continue to spread all over the country! While my 3 month old isn't eating yet; my 2 year old loves to snack on fruit, raisins, and Annie's cheese bunnies and graham bunnies.

  9. By rinsing canned veggies, you can remove quite a bit of the sodium. My kids still like baby snacks - like the cereal puffs and Gerber snacks. These are much healthier than the similiar snacks sold on the cereal and chip aisle. We also bought a food dehydrator and make our own dried fruit. My son loves gummies, but they are full of sugar. So our homemade fruit leather is perfect for him

  10. We no longer get chicken nuggets because of Jamie Oliver (did you see that episode?!?)! A favorite healthy snack in our house is carrots and hummus or peanut butter for the 2 and 4 yr olds, and I steam the carrots for my 1 yr old. She loves "dipping" them in the hummus!

  11. As a family new to the world of healthy eating(or at least trying to be. I am still a fan of potato chips and soda, but try to choose better for my babies), we love to have strawberry pancakes(made with Fiber One pancake mix and water and strawberry yogurt), fat free whipped topping or strawberry yogurt, topped with strawberries. You can also make these ahead of time and turn them into rolls. My kids love them!! They also have fallen in love with dried strawberries and dried bananas. Disney actually makes a fairly healthy one of these in a single size pouch that works as a great travel alternative. Good Luck and thanks for all the ideas!

  12. LOVING all the ideas...thank you!! :) The Fiber one pancakes are a great idea. I've just discovered carrots and hummus... yum. James won't eat it, but I will and at least that's a start! We've got a food dehydrator, but I really need to learn how to use it.... Also need to get us a George F. grill! But I digress. This month's luck number, picked randomly via random.org, is... lucky #2, Sarah R.! :) Congrats and enjoy the Robeez.
